I got a truck. Paid for by my new company. It’s much larger than my beetle but will be nice to fit more than two people. Luckily it’s an ‘18 so it’s pre ugly and doesn’t have the I4. First impressions are that it’s bigly, rides pretty nice, has kick ass a/c, and Apple car play is cool. My mileage is shit but I have a gas card. #perks. Hopefully I like the new gig, but so far, it seems like the change has been good. I haven’t had time to even think, but things should settle once I thru all my on boarding. All my routines are broken at the moment, but that is honestly what I needed. Happy hump day oppo.

Good choice. Great trucks. Been beating on GM products for years. Rear ends go and older stuff had lifter issues, but the proof is in the pudding, they take a licking.

I sat in a 2019 Silverado with a center flip up bench/console. I don’t know of any truck that doesn’t have that as an option. Usually find them on based to middle models.

Not the bench, the console lid. The console doesn’t open, nor is there the *usable* tray that they used to have. Also, the door pockets are much smaller, as my keys and wallet barely fit, while I used to could put a 32oz water bottle, my keys, my wallet, and still have room for another drink in the cupholder. They stabbed work truck usability in the back for this gen. If you think it’s acceptable, please go sit in a Ram or Ford. It’s ridiculously bad.

Nah, the base gets the 4.3 and a 6-speed. I’d much rather have the 4-cylinder. The 4.3 is by far the worst sounding engine of all time, and then 2014 rolled around and they took the one redeeming sound part of it away, the relatively aggressive sounding idle.

The sound, plus the awful transmission tuning is infuriating. It’s so many levels worse than our last gen Ram 1500. It’s worse than both our 2008 and 2009 Silverados.

Oh gotcha, never check the lid, I just assume. Oh trust me , I know about truck storage. My previous truck was a 2015 F150, my current one is a 2019 RAM Rebel. The Silverado missed the boat on the interior with this gen.

The RAM has some very innovative storage solutions in the center.

if something is automatic, it should have a column shifter. All trucks should have column shifters. Any truck large enough to fit 2.5 people abreast should have a bench seat. We know this, because it was written.

It sounds ok to me and the 6 speed just seems like an automatic. It’s way better than the transmission in my brother’s old 24v Cummins haha.

The I4 just seems wrong in a vehicle that big

Yeah, it's not really the right time for me to buy something, and that wouldn't have been my first pick for a 100% personal car. But, I do actually like it and certainly cannot complain about the perk. Plus, it will make a few things easier having a bed haha

Ah, yea around town mileage is lousy. Unloaded with that V6 around 70 you should see 25-26 on the highway. More if you really baby it.

Update. Drove to the bay last weekend and saw about 24 on the computer. So probably 20mpg actually. Not bad chebby, not bad. Drove about 75-80 with the ac working overtime haha
